Our Breathing Planet was founded in 2010 by Zornitza Hadjitodorova, who at the time worked in waste management in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As part of a sector where humans’ environmental impact is straight-forward, Zornitza wanted to raise awareness on environmental challenges.
In 2011, she participated in a Leadership Expedition to Antarctica with Sir Robert Swan, OBE, the first person in history to walk unassisted to both the South and North Poles. The experience was transformational and led to her to change the mission of the website to one which inspires through showcasing the beauty of this world.
In 2016, Our Breathing Planet was officially registered as a non-profit in Zornitza’s home country, Bulgaria.
